Leicester South Songsters

Leicester South Songsters have been in existence since 1904, but their first century was spent under the corps' former name of Leicester Castle. However, in 2005, the corps relocated to the south of the city of Leicester and, at this exciting time, came a name change to Leicester South. The group is made up of members from many walks of life who have an interest in making music as a way of praising and worshipping God. Within the group they have medical staff, teachers, bankers, sales personnel, students, administration staff, engineers, postal workers, as well as some who have retired from full-time employment. Most members of the group have been brought up in The Salvation Army, but others have joined fairly recently. No matter how long individual members may have served within the Army, their mission as a group remains the same - to aid worship by creating an atmosphere that enables people to feel nearer to God.
